Do I need to see a GP before I make an appointment?

If you would like to lodge an ACC claim for physio for an accident or sports injury, we are able to do this directly for you on your first appointment. During the assessment we will advise if you should also visit your GP for further review or if you require pain control.

Would my claim be covered under ACC or is it a private appointment?

Most physical injuries such as wounds, lacerations, sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations and work-related injuries are covered if they’re caused by:

  • An accident
  • A condition that comes on gradually because of your work (gradual process)
  • Medical treatment
  • Sexual assault or abuse

For further information refer to the ACC website here or contact us and we can help guide you in this process.

Are ACC treatments free?

Not any longer. If you have an approved ACC claim, ACC will fund part of the full consultation fee. We then require a surcharge to be paid to cover the remainder. The price will depend on the type of appointment you have. Contact us for more information

How long is the appointment?

Our standard appointments are 40 minutes long for the initial appointment and 20 minutes long for follow up appointments. Our initial appointments do cost slightly more due to the additional administration involved to our staff. We do ask for people to arrive 5 minutes before the first appointment to complete some paper work giving you more time with the Physiotherapist.

How many treatments will I need?

On your first appointment the Physiotherapist will discuss with you a plan for rehabilitation and advise you on an expected time frame and suggested number of treatments required to meet your goals. Physiotherapy aims to improve your current situation, but also to prevent re-occurrence which often involves some follow up to progress rehabilitation programmes. The Physiotherapist will also discuss with you if referrals to other health professionals would benefit your recovery or if further investigations need to take place.

How many treatments are funded under ACC?

You have a large number of appointments available to you part funded under ACC to allow you to get the treatment you require to reach your goals! You will get a detailed treatment plan one your initial consultation which will be designed for you individually depending what you hope to get out of the treatment.
